CLASS L TRACK: Bunnell’s N’Dabian, Williams each post 2nd -place finishes

NEW HAVEN—Bunnell High School seniors Christ N’Dabian and Abigail Williams both earned runner-up status in their respective events during Friday night’s Class L indoor track championship meet at the Floyd Little Athletic Center at Hillhouse High School.

After posting the third fastest time in the preliminaries, N’Dabian ran a 6.63 in the finals to earn second place in the 55-meter dash, just 0.04 seconds away from the top spot.

Williams placed second in the girls long jump with a leap of 16 feet even, four inches off the winning mark. Kaylah Phommachanh placed sixth in the event with a personal best leap of 15 feet, one-half inch.

Jayleen Herrera also competed, putting forth a 14-2 effort.

Kesiri Gonzales placed fifth in the 55-meter dash in 7.58 seconds.

The Bulldogs’ girls 4×200 relay earned a couple of points placing fifth. Dardielle Exantus, Phommachanh, Gonzalez and Williams combined for a time of 1:52.05.

The Bunnell girls placed 14th overall with 13 points while the Bulldog boys were 20th with eight points.

Alex Mosley (6.80 seconds) and Marquise Lawrence (6.82) were eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 55 prelims, missing out the finals by hundredths of a second. Jesone Khantikone ran a 7.16 while Jonathan Gulish had a time of 7.32.

N’Dabian also ran the 300, finishing 12th in 37.74 seconds while Mosley was 20th with a time of 39.64.

In the boys long jump, Khantikone leaped 18-3 to finish 13th, on spot in front of Cullen Roper (18-2).

Also in the girls 55, Phommanchanh was 16th during prelims (7.78 seconds) while Exantus was 18th (7.79). Mia Noisette ran a 8.26 in prelims and Shanice Bernard ran an 8.58.

Williams also placed 10th in the 55 hurdles, running a 9.53 time while Susie Poisson was clocked in 10.41 seconds.
