Site: Penders Field, Stratford

Team Records: Stratford 0-4, Hillhouse 0-4.

Last Game: Stratford lost to Weston 47-14 on Oct. 4; Hillhouse lost to Harding 36-12 last week.

Key Players: Stratford—Trey Lanham III, Soph., QB; Kaleb Lafontant, Jr., WR-CB; Sy’air James, Soph, FB-MLB; Tommy Cox, Jr., OL-LB; Hillhouse—Demelle Turner, Jr., QB; Turone Kelley, Sr., WR-DB; Treronn Bryant, RB; Greg Chambers, Sr., DE/RB

Outlook: A pair of winless teams meet up under the lights, so something is going to give, and one team is going to walk away with that first win. Hillhouse does have a lot of seniors contributing to their efforts this season, an intangible that could pay off against a young Red Devils squad. The Academics won a state title in 2016, but struggled for the last two seasons, going 4-6 last season after starting off with five straight losses. Stratford has gotten better each and every week, despite a roster that has been dinged up a bit. Coming off a bye week has the Red Devils healed and ready for the second half of the season.

Coach’s Comment: “Hillhouse is traditionally known as a powerhouse program in the state,” Stratford coach Jack Petion said. “They have some good players with size and I do not think their record indicates who they are. Stratford vs New Haven is a well-known Pop Warner matchup within the state, so our kids aren’t taking this game lightly. We are coming off a bye week, so I hope to see some of the things we cleaned up in practice executed properly on the field. We need to be focused and playing fast, smart, and physical from opening kickoff to the final whistle to be successful. Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season, so I expect a hard-fought battle out there tonight.”
