Outlook: The undefeated Trojans (3-0) head to Stratford riding a four-game overall winning streak dating back to last year. Weston has a balanced rushing attack featuring a trio of backs who have all gained more than 100 yards this season. Defense is definitely the Trojans’ strength this season as they have given up just one touchdown in 12 quarters of play. The young Red Devils have improved over the first three games of the season and have been able to put together some drives this season. The toughest test of the season to date likely awaits on the other side of the ball, however.
Coach’s Comment: “Weston has been a solid team the past couple of years,” Stratford coach Jack Petion said. “They have had the same go-to-guys for the past three years, so they are more experienced now. You can see that they run the defense and offense through those players, and rightfully so. I thought our guys did a better job of competing last week. We came out the gate a bit faster last game than the prior two weeks, but we kind of lost some of that juice in the fourth quarter after some calls against us and missed field goals. That’s part of the game and we have to expect those situations will arise. We have to be constant learners of the game and continue to fight through pain and adversity to be successful. It was good to see that we are starting to gel as a unit in some phases but we have to put together four quarters of tough football and have a next-man-up mentality.”
