Outlook: The last non-conference game of the long season is here and it’s FCIAC opponent Wilton coming to town to play the Bulldogs. Last week, the Bulldogs finally got All-SWC linebacker James Savko back on that side of the ball. This week, two-year starting quarterback Brian Carrafiello returns under center, giving the Bunnell offense a boost. The Warriors have had an up and down season and are looking to bounce back from a shutout lost last week to arch-rival Ridgefield. Wilton features one of the best two-way lineman in the state in Matt Gulbin, who likely has a Division 1 college program in his future. The Bulldogs haven’t had much of an issue getting into the end zone this season, scoring 76 points in five games. The problem has been on defense where teams have been putting up some big numbers. For Bunnell to turn around this lost season, the defense has to start stepping up.
Coach’s Comment: “Wilton is a tough team who has probably one of the state’s best offensive linemen. They are well coached and are a disciplined team. They have two very big wide receivers who will need to be kept under wraps for us to be successful. Our offense looks to re-create some of our preseason success with the return of our starting quarterback Brian Carrafiello, who missed the first five games.”
