Despite a pair of solid performances, two teams were left on the short end of games during Thursday’s action around town.
The Bunnell baseball team suffered a walk-off loss at Joel Barlow after getting no hit for seven innings by Falcons’ pitcher Matt Scott.
The Stratford girls lacrosse team, meanwhile, battled traditional SWC power Weston tough before falling by an 11-8 score at home.

Joel Barlow 1, Bunnell 0
Brett Batka had another strong outing, giving up just six hits in the game and striking out three, but fell thanks to Barlow’s gem of a pitching performance.
Bunnell is now 7-8 overall, 2-6 in SWC play.
Weston 11, Stratford 8
Edie Threshie scored four goals and had an assist to pace Stratford’s efforts as the Red Devils slipped to 5-7.
Amanda Ogrodowicz added two goals and had an assist while Elle Moshier and Kaitlin LaPia both scored single goals.
LaPia also had four ground balls while Amelia Overby had two ground balls and forced two turnovers.
Helen Lefever made six saves.
Joel Barlow 292, Stratford 294
The Red Devils fell by just two strokes at home against Joel Barlow at Mill River Country Club.
Jennifer Melo had the low score for Stratford.
New Milford 4, Bunnell 3
The Bulldogs got wins at three of the four single spots but fell short for the match victory against New Milford.
Mikaela Puzzo (8-4), Amari Campfield (8-1), Keane Alindato (8-0) all earned wins for the Bulldogs.
Lucy Li, at top singles, fell by a 9-7 score while the Green Wave swept the doubles.
Bunnell is now 3-7 on the season.
