A losing streak was snapped, and a winning streak grew highlighting the day in sports action around town on Wednesday.

The Bunnell baseball team snapped a five-game losing streak, which included four losses by two runs or less, with a 6-2 road win over Weston.

Here in town, meanwhile, the Stratford softball team won its 10th game of the season and ran its winning streak to three games with an 8-4 victory over Immaculate.

BASEBALL

Bunnell 6, Weston 2

Henry Gloria scattered five hits over six innings while striking out three, and aiding his own cause with a two-run single, as the Bulldogs got back to .500 with a 6-2 win over Weston.

Taylor Perry and Tony Broadhurst each had an RBI single, as well, for Bunnell, which improved to 7-7 overall and 2-5 in SWC play.

Gloria ran his record to 3-0 on the season.

SOFTBALL

Stratford 8, Immaculate 4

The Red Devils had 15 hits to improve to 10-2 with an 8-4 win over the Mustangs.

Naidrea Alston was 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Stratford hitting attack. Taylor Lubas was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs, as was winning pitcher Angela Grindrod.

Stratford plays at SWC power Newtown on Friday.

Weston 13, Bunnell 1

The host Trojans jumped on top with eight runs in the first inning en route to topping Bunnell by a 13-1 score.

Jennifer Melo had the low round for Stratford during its road match Wednesday.
