H.S. Roundup: Bunnell falls at Pomperaug in a make-up game

Pomperaug 62, Bunnell 30

A cold gym forced the postponement of Bunnell’s girls basketball game against Pomperaug earlier this week, but on Friday night it was a couple of players who brought the heat.

Pomperaug’s Cara McGelligan and Maggie Lee scored 25 and 23 points, respectively, to lead the hosts to a 62-30 win over the visiting Bulldogs in Southbury.

For Bunnell, Jasmine St. Clair had 11 points and Amanda Zdru netted nine more.

The Bulldogs, now 3-12, host New Fairfield on Monday.

BOYS SWIMMING

Foran-Law 97, Bunnell-Stratford 60

On Thursday, Foran-Law co-op hosted their neighbors from Bunnell-Stratford and earned the win.

For Bunnell-Stratford, the 200 medley relay team (Chris Truedson, Brandon Russell, Miguel Vanegas and Steven Tarkowski) took first place in 2:03.31.

Russell was won the 100 breast (1:15.77) and was second in the 100 free (1:01.6).

Tarkowski was second in the 500 free (6:20.76), Christian Robles was second in the 100 back (1:00.07),

The 200 free relay (Vanegas, James Bragg, Nikhil Shankar, Pat Chudecki) was second in 1:53.10 and the 400 free relay (Vanegas, Shankar, Tarkowski, Russell) was awarded the win in 4:16.06 after Foran-Law swam as an exhibition.
