The Bunnell High School girls basketball team notched its sixth win of the season, in just seven games, by posting a 50-23 road win over Brookfield on Monday.
A 22-point second quarter, in which the Bulldogs drained four 3-point shots, and a balanced scoring attack paced the Bunnell effort.
Mariana Trovarelli’s 12 points led Bunnell while Amanda Zdru had nine points. Toni Greene had eight more while Adriana Debernardo and Yovanna Cruz scored seven points each.
Kristin Zack added five more while Maya Sota scored a basket, as well.
The Bulldogs will put their 6-1 mark to a true test on Thursday when they host 5-1 Newtown, the fifth-ranked team in the state, according to the GameTimeCT.com poll.
Masuk 86, Bunnell-Stratford Co-op 66
The Bunnell-Stratford co-op got a pair of relay wins and two individual victories in their meet against Masuk on Monday.
Chris Truedson (100 back, 1:15.0) and James Bragg-Phillips (100 breaststroke, 1:19.27) were awarded first places while the 200 free relay team (Braggs-Phillips, Sean McGettigan, William Walton, Nikhil Shankar) took first in 1:58.48 and the 400 free relay (Brett Faerdy, Dylan Feliciano, Danyere Francis, Aditya Gowd) won in 4:54.31.
Bragg-Phillips took a second place in the 100 free (57.47), as well.
