It was a rough day for the town’s varsity sports teams as just one of 10 teams in action reported a victory.

The Bunnell softball team hosted Harding and came away with a 19-7 win to highlight the day.

Bunnell 19, Harding 7

The Presidents actually jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but the Bulldogs defense stiffened and Bunnell was able to get its third win of the season.

Amanda Wallace went 2-for-3 with a single, triple and four RBIs for Bunnell while Mikayla Bonilla had a pair of base hits and four RBIs.

Kayla Morel earned the win in relief, holding Harding scoreless over the final three innings.


New Milford 6, Bunnell 2

The Bulldogs only gave up three unearned runs, but couldn’t get the win at home.

Taylor Perry had a hit and two RBIs while Justin Herrera had a double.

Bunnell is now 6-7 overall and 1-5 in SWC play.


New Fairfield 24, Bunnell 2

The Bulldogs got goals from Anthony Trovarelli and Jacob Kudysch in Tuesday’s defeat.

Spenser Tote made eight saves while facing a ton of shots on net.

Pomperaug 13, Stratford 2

The Red Devils fell on the road in Southbury. No further information was reported for this game.


New Fairfield 14, Bunnell 4

The Rebels put up 10 goals in the first half to top the host Bulldogs by a 14-4 score.

Morgan Reilly scored two goals for Bunnell while Mariana Trovarelli had a goal and an assist. Maura Kelly also tallied a goal for the Bulldogs while Tatiana Wright had 13 saves.

Bunnell travels to Bethel on Tuesday.

Pomperaug 17, Stratford 11

The Red Devils offense put up 11 goals, but Pomperaug’s offense was clicking, as well as Stratford fell at home.

Edie Threshie netted five goals for Stratford while Kassidy Murtha added three more. Kelly Goddard, Elle Moshier and Alexis Tori also potted goals for the Red Devils, who saw their five-game winning streak snapped.

Stratford (5-6) hosts Weston on Thursday.


Weston 267, Bunnell 307

Danka Hlinka shot a 64 for Bunnell, which fell at home to Weston.

Newtown 236, Stratford 326

Lucy Li took six games off Pomperaug’s No. 1 player in Bunnell’s match on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs fell to 3-6.

Larabe Chaudhary, Megan Kozlowski and Kelly Londa each won two games during the Red Devils loss to Bethel on Tuesday.
