H.S. ROUNDUP: Bunnell, Stratford girls lacrosse both post Saturday wins

Wet field conditions wiped out the baseball and softball schedule, but the town’s girls lacrosse program continued their resurgence by sweeping the day.

Stratford ran its winning streak to five games with a 17-8 win over Foran while Bunnell posted an 8-6 win over Watertown to notch its third win in four games.

Here’s rundown of what went on a windy and blustery Saturday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Stratford 17, Foran 8

Edie Threshie scored five goals to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Red Devils won their fifth straight game to even their record at 5-5 on the season

Kassidy Murtha added four goals, Elle Moshier had three and Amanda Ogrodowicz and Kaitlin LaPia had two goals each. Julia Mahoney also had a goal while Helen Lefever made 10 saves.

Bunnell 8, Watertown 6

The Bulldogs defeated Watertown by an 8-6 score. No further information was reported on this game as of this posting.

The Bulldogs raced out to an early lead and held on for the victory over visiting Watertown.

Mariana Trovarelli and Maura Kelly scored three goal each for Bunnell, which moved to 5-5 on the season.

Morgan Reilly added two goals and four assists while Kelly also chipped in with a pair of set-ups, too.

Bunnell goalie Tatiana Wright came up huge with 15 saves.

BOYS LACROSSE

Immaculate 10, Stratford 9 (OT)

The Red Devils tied the game in the closing seconds of regulation but weren’t able to get the first goal of the extra period in falling to the Mustangs.

No further information was reported for this game.

BASEBALL

Stratford 18, Bassick 0

Zach Demanche fired a one-hitter to lead the Red Devils to the win.

New Milford at Bunnell, ppd.

The make-up date for this game is listed as Tuesday, April 30.

SOFTBALL

New Milford at Bunnell, ppd.

The Bulldogs are slated to host New Milford in the make-up game on Tuesday, May 7.

Weston at Stratford, ppd.

For the second time this season, the Weston at Stratford game has been postponed. No make-up date has been determined.
