The Stratford boys basketball team notched the only victory of a busy Tuesday night, taking to the road to top Bethel in an SWC contest.
Stratford 57, Bethel 48
Joe August and Jayquan Kirkland combined for 35 points to lead the Red Devils to the win.
August netted 18 and Kirkland added 17 as Stratford improved to 6-5 overall, 3-2 in SWC play.
Jaden Perez added eight more points for Stratford, which plays at Newtown on Friday.
Pomperaug 72, Bunnell 60
The Bulldogs fell to the Panthers on the road on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs, in search of that state tourney-clinching eighth win, fell for the fifth straight game.
Amanda Zdru’s 15 points led the Bunnell effort while Adrianna DeBernado had eight and Marianna Trovelli and Andrea Serreti had six points each.
Bethel 41, Stratford 24
The Red Devils fell to Bethel, one day after beating Bridgeport Central.
Against Bethel, Abby Anka’s eight points led the way for Stratford, which fell behind 15-0 to open the game.
On Monday, the Red Devils topped Central by a 52-22 score.
Amanda Ogrodowicz led all scorers with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Balanced scoring from the rest of the squad included Sami Perley adding 9, Sydney Ritchie with 8 and Alli Diaz with 8.
Newtown 83, Bunnell-Stratford co-op 65
James Bragg-Phillips won the 200 free (2:08.21) and 100 breaststroke (1:19.35) during Tuesday’s meet against Newtown.
Chris Truedson also won the 100 back (1:13.32) while the 400 free relay team (Aditya Gowd, Truedson, William Walton, Sean McGettigan) won the 400 free relay (4:18.35).
