The first win of the season for the Stratford High girls lacrosse highlighted Tuesday’s action around town.
Here’s a look at what went on and who did what:
Stratford 18, Notre Dame-Fairfield 3
The Red Devils had an offensive explosion in getting their first win of the season on the road against the Lancers.
Edie Threshie and Kassidy Murtha (1 assist) had five goals each to lead the Stratford charge. Kaitlin LaPia added three goals and an assist while Alexis Torri and Julia Mahoney both had two goals each. Elle Moshier added a goal and Ameila Overby had two assists, as well.
Goalie Helen Lefever made six saves for the 1-5 Red Devils while Mahoney picked up five ground balls and Avery Scofield forced a pair of turnovers.
“It felt great getting our first win of the season accomplished,” Stratford coach Sarah Stevens said. “We played what I call team lacrosse yesterday and that is how we got the job done. As a whole, we clicked, played towards our strengths, and are improving every day.”
Stratford will try to make it two in a row when it travels to winless New Milford on Thursday at 5:45 p.m.
Masuk 11, Bunnell 6
The Bulldogs battled tough at home as Masuk turned a tie at halftime into a win with a big second half.
Mariana Trovarelli led Bunnell with three goals while Morgan Reilly, Christina DiBenedetto and Ashley Rivera all added single goals.
Tatiana Wright was big in goal, making 15 saves in the game.
The Bulldogs (2-4) trek to Immaculate on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Masuk 10, Bunnell 3
Anthony Trovarelli had two goals to lead the Bulldogs, who fell on the road at Masuk on Tuesday.
Jerry Lopez also had a goal for Bunnell.
Quinton Budnick made eight saves.
