The Stratford girls basketball team notched its sixth win of the season, sewing up one of the 32 spots in the upcoming Class L tournament.
The Red Devils defeated Masuk 33-30 to clinch the berth.
Ali Diaz led all scorers with eight, including two 3-pointers and Sydney Richie and Amanda Ogrodowicz each chipped in with 7.
Stratford led 21-11 at the half. Masuk pulled within 7 at the end of the third.
Stratford’s first basket of the final quarter came with less than a minute left in the final quarter when Sydney Richie hit a 3 point basket to put Stratford up by two points and Abby Anka sealed the win for the Red Devils hitting the front end of a 1-1.
The Red Devils have won three straight games heading into the postseason.
Last Friday, Stratford topped Brookfield 43-37.
Anka led all scorers in that game with 14 points.
Before that, Julie Carbone’s 10 points led the Red Devils to a 52-34 win over Platt Tech.
Joel Barlow 50, Bunnell 48
Mariana Trovarelli led the Bulldogs with 16 points in a tight loss to Barlow in Redding on Tuesday.
Amanda Zdru scored 11 points and Toni Greene and Yovanna Cruz added eight points each.
Bunnell finishes the regular season 11-9.
Barlow 70, Bunnell 48
The Bulldogs got blown out at home against Joel Barlow on Tuesday.
Kevin Lanham’s 16 points led the Bunnell charge. Anthony Valerian added eight more.
