Bunnell 64, Notre Dame-Fairfield 57
Earlier this season, Bunnell and Notre Dame-Fairfield met in the championship game of the Lancers’ season-opening tournament.
The Bulldogs were on the short end of a 60-54 decision, but played the game without senior guard Khalid Moreland.
Moreland was in the line-up for the regular season rematch between the two SWC rivals and that made all the difference as he scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs to the win.
Maximus Edwards and Elijah Alexandre added 15 points each for Bunnell, which improved to 7-3 with its fifth straight victory.
Josh Giannoni had 12 rebounds while Tiyorne Coleman had 10 boards.
Bunnell will play at Masuk on Friday at 7 p.m.
Stratford 60, Weston 52
Mike August and Jack Ryan combined to score 45 of the Red Devils’ 60 points as Stratford posted a 60-52 road win at Weston on Tuesday night.
August netted 24 points, 21 of which came in the second half, while Ryan had 21 points for Stratford.
Zack Fedak added nine points while Joe August had five and John Bike added a single point.
Stratford trailed by three entering the fourth quarter, but scored 24 points-nine of which came from the foul line.
The Red Devils, who have won three of their last four games, improved to 5-4 on the season.
They will host New Fairfield on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Weston 47, Stratford 38
After falling behind by a 31-11 score at the half, Stratford stormed back with a 21-point fourth quarter but fell short of visiting Weston.
Abby Anka scored 10 points to lead the way with Sami Perley adding nine and Keryna Upchurch scoring seven more. Julia Torreso and Sydney Ritchie had six points each.
Stratford (4-6) will play at New Fairfield on Friday.
Brookfield 79, Bunnell-Stratford Co-Op 62
Miguel Vanegas won the 50 free and led off his team’s victorious 200 free relay squad as the Bunnell-Stratford co-op team hosted Brookfield on Tuesday.
Vanegas won the 50 free in 24.40 seconds. Later, he led off a foursome that included Brandon Russell, Steven Tarkowski and Adi Gowd and won in 1:52.42.
James Briggs-Phillips, a freshman, won the 100 back (1:14.66) and Russell won the 100 breast (1:13.63), as well.
Sean McGettigan joined Gowd, Tarkowski and Briggs-Phillips in taking first place in the 400 free relay, as well. No time was reported.
Christian Robles swam the 200 free as an exhibition swimmer and posted the fastest time in the event (1:57.25), but it didn’t count toward the co-op’s team score.
The team will be back in action next Tuesday at Newtown.
Bunnell swept a dual meet over Darien and Derby over the weekend.
The Bulldogs topped Darien 66-12 and bested Derby 72-12.
Against Darien, Ryan McLaughlin (113 pounds) won in a pin (1:05), James Depina (145) won in a pin (3:04), Nick Demanche (170) won in a pin (1:20), Brandon Tuscano (195) won in a pin (1:29) and CJ Falotico (hvy) won in a pin (2:28).
Connor Souza (120), Devin Rudd (126), Tanner Roper (132), Julian Dematteo (138), Frankie Mahar (152), and Luke McLaughlin (160) all won by forfeit.
Against Derby, Dematteo won by pin (:29), Tuscano won by pin (5:13), Tyree Hall (220) won by pin (2:36), and Falotico won by pin.
Ryan McLaughlin, Souza, Mike Amorando, Roper, DePina, Mahar, Luke McLaughlin, Demanche and Spenser Tote all won by forfeit.
