HS ROUNDUP: Stratford boys fall at Immaculate, Bunnell rolls to road win


Immaculate 53, Stratford 43

In a battle of the first and second place in the SWC, host top-seeded Immaculate held off No. 2 Stratford by a 53-43 score on Thurday night in Danbury.

Jack Ryan’s 16 points led the 13-6 Stratford effort. Joe August, Zack Fedak and Jayquan Kirkland added six points each.

“They’re a very good team and we had been playing well ourselves,” Stratford coach Tim Swaller told GameTimeCT. “We did not shoot well; we usually have a good shooting team. The shots we usually knock down, tonight they didn’t go in.”

Stratford, which saw a seven-game win streak come to an end, plays at New Milford on Tuesday in the final regular season game of the season.

Bunnell 85, Brookfield 54

After a two-game losing streak, Bunnell won its second straight game with an 85-54 road win at Brookfield on Thursday.

Maximus Edwards tossed in 24 points for the Bulldogs, who improved to 13-5. Josh Giananni added 18 points and 10 rebounds while Khalid Moreland added 17 points

The Bulldogs play a make-up game at Joel Barlow on Saturday at 2 p.m. before closing out the regular season at home on Tuesday against Newtown.


Joel Barlow 45, Bunnell 35

The host Bulldogs ended their season with a 45-35 loss to Joel Barlow on Thursday.

Amanda Zdru led Bunnell with 13 points while Brianna Ramos had nine points and Ally Wright had 5.

Bunnell finished the season 4-16. Their last four losses all came by 10 points or less.
